Keeneland

19:00 - Persian Force 8/1 1pt ew

Richard Hannon’s horse has been a model of consistency throughout the season, not finishing out of the front 3 on all 7 starts. If it wasn’t for being part of what looks a golden generation of 2 year old sprinters, he would probably be a Group 1 winner by now. He has bumped in to Bradsell, Little Big Bear and Blackbeard on the big occasions but tonight in Keeneland, the race looks to be free of a horse of that calibre and he could finally get the elusive Group 1 he deserves.

If the market is to go by, his main rivals will also come from England, with The Platinum Queen, Dramatised and Mischief Magic all prominent in the betting. I would have marked The Platinum Queen would as a big danger but surely her high draw is not to be desired, especially with the way she lugs left.

Dramatised and Mischief Magic have slightly dissapointing runs to overcome and the main home based danger, Love Reigns has work to do based on her run at Royal Ascot.

Persian Force should be suited to the style of race he encounters stateside tonight as he is clearly not short of speed. He made his debut over 5f in the Brocklesby at Doncaster, clocking a very good time figure that day but has generally stayed over 6f. The 5 ½f trip could be perfect for him as it should allow him to take a lead and cruise around under Dettori before hopefully making his move on the bend to seal the deal with his turn of foot.

Overall, I think his form is the most solid of the field and odds of around 8/1 look very tempting for a firm each way bet.
