13:40 - Cloth Cap 4/1 1pt win
Although he is not the force he looked when going into the Grand National as favourite a few years ago, CLOTH CAP has shaped like he retains ability and a liking for the game a few times this season at Aintree. He pinged around in the Becher before the petrol light went on, before going to Doncaster where he did dissapoint but never got jumping under Brian Hughes. The handicapper has relented and dropped him 9lb since the start of the season, back to a mark of 135, just 1lb below when he won the Ladbrokes Trophy and a return to this venue may perk him back under Jonjo.
Kelso
13.50 - Teddy Blue 5/1 1pt ew
Gary Moore’s horse is not the finished article but he clearly has a lot of ability and his recent 3rd in the Betfair Hurdle looks very strong form, with Aucunrisque and Filey Bay both fancied to run big race at the Cheltenham Festival. TEDDY BLUE finished best of the rest and I don’t think a 2lb rise from the handicapper will stop a big showing from him today in the valuable Morebattle Hurdle.
Doncaster
14:05 - Whizz Kid 3/1 1pt win
WHIZZ KID has been racing in very competitive handicaps on a Saturday lately in class 2 and class 3 contests, so it will be a big relief to him today facing lesser opposition. He ran a very good race when 2nd to Homme Public at Huntingdon a couple of starts back and a replica run of something like that should see him go very close today in his first class 4 event since novice company. Luke Scott takes a valuable 7lb off his back too and he looks the one to beat with conditions in his favour.
